WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – The annual Wilmington Area Out of the Darkness Community Walk returns this weekend, bringing the community together to raise awareness for suicide prevention and mental health support.

The non-competitive walk directly supports research, advocacy efforts and educational programs across the state. It will feature an opening ceremony, activities of hope and healing, resource tables and complimentary honor beads for every participant.

Registration is free, but participants are encouraged to set an individual fundraising goal of $150. Donations will remain open through Dec. 31.

The event is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 1, at Shelter 6 in Long Leaf Park. In-person registration will start at 1 p.m., with the walk kicking off at 2 p.m.
