Rain winding down as strong northerly winds continue; chance of light snow overnight

Posted

As our storm system begins to move east, our area finds itself on the backside of the system. Rain will gradually wind down from west to east as the system departs. A few stronger thunderstorms will be possible through the evening across our southeast counties. Strong northerly winds will also persist overnight. A few lingering showers will remain possible overnight, and light snow will be possible by the early morning hours across Monument Hill and Woodland Park. Low temperatures will hold in the mid-30s to lower 40s, while the San Luis Valley will see lows fall into the 20s.

Skies will clear quickly through Tuesday morning, and sunshine should be quite plentiful through the afternoon. Daytime highs will warm into the 50s area-wide. Although winds will be breezy to start the day, expect much calmer conditions by the afternoon.

A quick-moving system will bring a slight chance of rain showers Wednesday afternoon, although impacts should be minimal. The rest of the extended forecast looks mostly dry, with daytime highs in the 50s and temperatures falling back close to freezing through the weekend.
