PORTLAND, OR – A stranger on stranger encounter leaves a Portland driver shaken, and a Portland Police Precinct damaged.

Portland Police Sgt. Kevin Allen says that driver called 9-1-1 on Thursday night to say she was being followed by someone she didn’t know.

“This is the kind of call we don’t see every day,” Allen said. “(She was) concerned about her safety.”

She was instructed to drive to North Precinct on NE Emerson Street. A silver SUV followed.

“The sergeant observed the following car driving up on the sidewalk in an unusual way,” Allen said.

When officers tried to stop the driver, she turned into a driveway, slammed into a precinct garage door and hit a tactical vehicle inside.

They arrested Catherine Fleury for criminal mischief and reckless driving. Impairment is suspected and more criminal charges may follow. Neither driver was injured.

Sgt. Allen says they have no evidence that the reporting driver was in danger.
