DENVER COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) -- One person was arrested today after a suspicious device was found on a windowsill outside of the Capitol building in Denver County.
According to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP), troopers found a suspicious device they say was designed to look like an explosive device on a windowsill outside the east Capitol entrance. CSP says the building was evacuated around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday as a precaution. Lincoln Street and 14th Avenue were also closed.
CSP says the Denver Police Department Bomb Squad arrived a few minutes later and determined the device was not a threat to the public. They say the evacuation order was lifted just before 11:50 a.m.
During the investigation, CSP says it arrested a 32-year-old male suspect and then transferred custody of the suspect to the Denver Police Department.
