Brock Purdy to make appearance at Bay Area Costco

(KRON) -- The 49ers' bye week is coming up, and it seems that Brock Purdy has already made plans instead of taking the field on Sunday.

The San Francisco quarterback will be making an appearance at a Bay Area Costco.

Of course, Purdy isn't at the big-box retailer just to greet fans. He is promoting sports drink Recover 180 at the Costco in Santa Clara on Coleman Avenue, the beverage company announced in a news release.

Purdy will be at that Costco between 4 p.m. and 5 p.m., and the first 100 fans will receive a free poster of the 49ers' signal caller.

The sports drink company said Purdy will not be signing autographs. However, fans will have a chance to take pictures with Purdy on a first-come, first-served basis.

Purdy's appearance won't be the first time a star Bay Area athlete was at a Costco -- some were planned in advance and some were surprise appearances.

In June, Stephen Curry surprised Costco shoppers in South San Francisco. The Warriors superstar was at the warehouse to promote his Gentleman’s Cut Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey.

The 49ers are set to travel to Atlanta this Sunday to take on the Falcons (2-4) for a 10 a.m. PT kickoff. San Francisco (6-0) is among the three remaining undefeated teams in the NFL, along with the Chiefs and Vikings.
